Of Tuesday and For Wednesday

From Tuesday's action...

--#1 Owensboro Catholic left no doubt on who the best team in the state is, as the Aces stomped #3 Henderson County 8-1 in Owensboro. The Colonels' ace, Stacy Whitmer, left the circle in the 4th inning with health problems, and the Aces jumped on her replacement very quickly. Despite the blowout loss, don't cross out the Colonels as a state championship contender.

--#24 Larue County is quickly establishing themselves as a state power once more. The Hawks upset #11 Grayson County 6-3 in Hodgenville. As for the Cougars, they've lost 4 of 7 (the other three losses were all to ranked teams).

Now, a short look at Wednesday...

--Castle (IN) @ #1 Owensboro Catholic
--Scott @ #5 Ryle
--#20 Butler @ #8 Ballard
--#16 Lafayette vs. #10 Male
--#16 Lafayette vs. #14 Manual (at Male)
--#17 Mercy @ Anderson County
--Breckinridge County @ #19 Edmonson County
--Shelby County @ #21 Scott County

Upset Alert...

--#12 Allen County-Scottsville @ Barren County
This game, delayed from Tuesday, is a dangerous one for the Patriots, as the Trojans look to close the gap between them and mighty ACS in the 15th district.

Game of the day...

--#2 Greenwood @ #6 Christian County
Greenwood can erase that bad taste left from the Ballard Invitational with a statement win in Hoptown against the highly-ranked Colonels.

2 Comments:

  • Greenwood cancelled the game with Christian b/c of a JV tournament.

  • Two excellent ball games played at Louisvile Ulmer Stadium last night. Male and Lafayette went at it for 9 innings with Male coming out on top 3 to 2. In the second game of the double header Lafayette and Manual also went 9 innings with Lafayette winning 1 to 0. All three teams looked very sharp.
